To add to the prior answer, if your surgery was work related you could also receive workers compensation benefits along with some of the other relief suggested. In cases of discrimination you would be able to receive a recovery under hte ADA or other statute in addition to workers compensation payments. If you are entitled to workers compensation, your employer may also continue to be responsible for your medical bills related to the injury.
