One of the questions I would have is if you have a condition that affects your ability to do the job, whether you are police/firefigter etc, whether you have some work related issue and some other questions about what type of employer you have (gov not gov). It would be helpful to have more facts. It is possible that you have protections under the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act or under a workers compensation/heart and lung program.
